I watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie at the local IMAX theater. I have long been a fan of X-Men and Weapon X series, so I had pretty high expectations for this movie. Learning that one of my favorite comic book characters, Deadpool, was going to be in this movie gave me some hope that he might spawn off another Marvel movie of his own. I’d love to see a Deadpool and Cable movie. I was disappointed, yet again, with the storyline diverging from Deadpool’s origin and abilities. The movie left me with the feeling that I’ll never see a Deadpool movie, unless they disregard this movie’s content and story.
Okay, enough about Deadpool – the movie’s about Wolverine.

I enjoyed watching the first part of the movie dealing with Stryker’s Team X. The elite team was captained by Wolverine and joined by Sabertooth, Wade Wilson (Deadpool), Agent Zero, John Wraith, Fred Dukes (Blob), and Chris Bradley (Maverick). After a falling out, Wolverine left the team and moved to a remote part of Canada.
After seeing that appears to be the death of his lover, Wolverine vows to track down his half-brother, Sabertooth, and kill him. After a bit, he finds out that only one person knows where the secret base is located at and he heads to New Orleans to find Gambit. Even when I was a teenager and first saw Gambit, there was something I didn’t like about him. This movie left me with the same impression. I just hope they don’t give Gambit a movie after what they did to Deadpool. Gambit, the only person to escape from the secret base, eventually agrees to help get Wolverine there.
After a huge fight scene and some drama, Wolverine and Sabertooth put aside their differences to fight Deadpool who is control by some computer device operated by Stryker.
Overall, I’d say that it was an okay movie, but something that one could definitely wait until it comes out on DVD to watch. I don’t feel like this was one of Marvel’s best movies and I don’t feel like this movie did justice to Wolverine or any of the other characters in the movie. I’m a bit disappointed that they killed off some of the more interesting characters rather than follow the storylines of the comic books and leave open the chance to make more movies using established and well liked characters. Seeing Professor Xavier in the movie (played by Patrick Stewart) was a nice treat.
